Frequently Asked Questions

What is the mission and vision of Reproductive Alliance?

The Reproductive Alliance will establish national standards for third-party reproduction facilitation programs and/or entities based on existing guidelines set forth by related professional organizations, recognize those agencies who meet those standards of excellence, and keep all engaged parties apprised as to best practices in assisted reproduction.

The Reproductive Alliance’s vision is that their accreditation mark will protect the intended parents, surrogates, and the field at large by sourcing the knowledge and experience of professionals in all facets of the third-party reproduction field.

Why was Reproductive Alliance created?

Few things make those of us in the field happier than growing families.  Conversely, not much upsets us more than any who take advantage of those same families we are trying to create.  Accreditation programs uplift the field as a whole while providing the best possible outcomes to the people they serve.

Who is a part of Reproductive Alliance?

Besides the Board of Trustees, RA relies on volunteers to be the heart and soul of what they do.

What are the purposes and limitations of accreditation?

Accreditation has two fundamental purposes: to assure the quality of a program and to assist in the improvement of said program.  Accreditation is a voluntary activity that requires a rigorous self-evaluation and an independent, objective appraisal of the overall quality of the program. Accreditation emphasizes quality assurance for the consumer and others involved in surrogacy and a commitment to continuous quality enhancement.

Is Reproductive Alliance looking to replace the efforts of any other ART-related organization?

No. The Reproductive Alliance recognizes that there are other organizations that provide essential services to our community such as education and networking.  RA proudly boasts that they are the first and only accreditation organization for surrogacy.

Can I maintain my current business or professional memberships, accreditations, or associations?

Yes, of course!  We strongly encourage you to increase your knowledge base.  It only makes us all stronger.
